Hell is a Make a Good Level X3 contest entry, submitted by Sedron. The player character is filtered to Mario upon entry. This level does not contain any powerups or checkpoints.
Overview
Mario starts directly over a pit, necessitating that the player hold right to land on a Red Koopa Paratroopa and avoid death. A series of Paratroopa hops follow, some of which require maintaining P-Speed in midair to clear some of the longer jumps. On top of the tall orange pipe at the end of this section, Mario must proceed by entering an invisible door located at the right edge.
The next screen forces Mario to wait for colored Goombas to be released one at a time, which die in order to activate their respective color block. After about 30 seconds, the path forward is cleared. Appearances deceiving, the player must press down at the door to reach the third section of the level. This screen also has several rapid-firing bird generators, for the purpose of creating lag.
At the beginning of the third section, Mario must immediately run towards the right on top of Torpedo Ted block platforms, to avoid getting hit by the Fire Snakes that spawn overhead. For the remainder of this horizontal segment, a random assortment of enemies are encountered, some of which appear in great numbers (such as Flying Spinies, Wigglers, and Nipper Plants). The red boss door at the end leads to the final room of gameplay.
Mario ends up in a single-screen room, caged in by bone platforms encircled by numerous diagonal Podoboos, Hopping Flames, and Boos. The cage disappears when Mario hits the blue brick block, releasing all of the enemies. Afterwards, the player must somehow dodge all of the enemies for roughly 90 seconds, until a Super Mario World Ghost House door appears. Entering the door takes the player to the last screen with the Star, along with a couple of friendly NPCs.

Rameau's Nephew
If this is hell, it represents the sin of sloth. Come on, you can come up with a better joke than this. Hell? More like smell.
+ All right, I admit I did chuckle a bit at the slow Goomba-walking room.
- Otherwise, laaaaaame.
Other: I'm not sure "acting like a doofus" counts as a "taboo"; it's just a bad idea.
Author's notes
Hello it's your boy Sedron back with another SMBX level hell yeah if you like this level please donate to my Patreon
Here's the words Sturg gave me
Location
Hell
Ferry
Home
Ropebridge
Frozen Lake
Adjective
taboo
brainy
victorious
flimsy
easy
NPC
Wiggler
Boom Boom
Rip van Fish
LoZ Bot
Spiny Egg
For location, I chose Hell. I decided to make it like hell for level design. I wanted to do a lot more with it but I didn't.
For adjective, I chose taboo. I broke some level design taboos.
For NPC, I put in some Wigglers but I think I might have deleted them by accident. It was an honest mistake so please give me full
points for this part. =)
The best way to think of this level is as a very good level. It might even be perfect. Thank you.
